Printing with Brother printers in Void LinuxI've been printing through a QEMU (Fedora) VM for a while and recently picked up a new printer (HL-L2465DW) and decided to try and get native printing to work in Void. I finally got it working with Driverless printing. I think the only packages necessary are: cups cups-filters avahi nss-mdns then symlink cupsd avahi-daemon to /var/service to enable you may need to be added to the lpadmin group: sudo usermod -a -G lpadmin username if you already have cupsd installed, you may have to restart it to get the driverless method to work. You shouldn't "add printer" through the web ui. It should just appear. Of course you need to plugin your wifi credentials into the printer and get connected. Now I need to clean up all the files (.ppd, filters) that I extracted from Brother's supplied .deb that I was trying to get to work in Void. Good luck |
